Rainbow Beach

Often ranked as one of the best beaches in Australia and one of the most scenic in the world, Rainbow Beach is a must-visit destination for any beach lover. Known for its stunning natural beauty, the beach is famous for its towering sand cliffs, which feature over 72 different colours. These vibrant hues, ranging from deep reds to bright yellows, are the result of iron oxide and leached vegetable dyes that have formed over thousands of years since the last ice age. Located just south of the Rainbow Beach Surf Life Saving Club, these cliffs provide a unique backdrop for visitors to explore and photograph.

The beach itself is perfect for swimming, fishing, and relaxing in the sun. For those seeking adventure, there are opportunities for 4WD tours along the beach or exploring nearby national parks. Double Island Point

Double Island Point Lighthouse

Cooloola Beach

Part of the iconic Great Beach Drive, offers 60 km of unbroken coastline stretching from Double Island Point to Noosa. Accessible by 4WD, this pristine stretch of beach is perfect for adventure seekers looking to explore its natural beauty. Along the way, you’ll find several beach dune camping areas, offering a chance to experience the outdoors in its purest form, with the sound of the ocean as your backdrop. Cooloola Beach is known for its breathtaking sunrises over the Pacific Ocean, making it a favourite spot for early risers. Whether you’re fishing, swimming, or simply soaking in the scenery, the beach provides a serene escape from the hustle and bustle. 

Inskip Peninsula

Just a 15-minute drive north of Rainbow Beach, Inskip Peninsula is the southern gateway to K’gari (formerly Fraser Island), and its proximity to the island makes it feel as though you can almost reach out and touch it. Vehicle access via a convenient barge service allows for a short crossing to K’gari, making it perfect for a day trip or a longer stay. Inskip is also a favourite destination for campers, offering a serene environment where you can pitch a tent or park your caravan amongst the beachside She-oaks. Whether you’re exploring the surrounding beaches, relaxing by the water, or heading over to K’gari to discover its natural wonders, Inskip provides an ideal base for your adventure. Its peaceful setting and easy access to both the mainland and the island make it a top choice for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

Tin Can Bay

The perfect destination for those seeking a laid-back coastal escape. If you’re after a relaxing spot, Kindy Beach offers a sheltered haven, ideal for a peaceful picnic or a play in the calm shallows of the Great Sandy Strait. The protected waters of the Tin Can inlet are a favourite for families, providing safe, tranquil conditions perfect for swimming and exploring. For nature enthusiasts, it’s a fantastic spot to get closer to the underwater world, with opportunities to spot a variety of marine life. Whether you’re fishing from the shore or simply enjoying the serene surroundings, Tin Can Bay offers a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. Its natural beauty, along with its peaceful vibe, makes it an ideal location to unwind and reconnect with nature.

Stunning Landscapes

We’re inspired by our stunning nature and unspoiled coastlines and we know you will be too.  

Amongst our fertile lands and wide open spaces, you’ll find the most stunning landscapes.  Here’s a few of our favourites spots, those that best explain why we wouldn’t trade this region for anywhere else.

Gympie

  • Salmon Lookout – turn off Gympie Kin Kin Pomona Rd onto Ryans Rd before a quick turn onto Wolvi Mountain Rd. You will pass through a cattle yard with a gate, please close the gate as you enter and exit.
  • Point Pure Lookout (Brooyar State Forest) – Brooyar State Forest is approximately twenty minutes North West of Gympie, take the Peterson Road turn off and enter the forest. Park at the Point Pure carpark and the lookout is an easy 300m return walk.  Note: the road to Point Pure lookout, is unsuitable for conventional vehicles, caravans and trailers.

Mary Valley

  • Imbil Lookout – is in the centre of town. Take a left at the local grocery store to the top of the hill for almost 360o views of the Mary Valley.
  • Arrawatta Lookout – on Traveston Crossing Rd, offers views looking north and north-east of the Mary Valley.
  • Amamoor Lookout – is through Amamoor township and over the bridge. Take the next right on the Amamoor-Dagun Rd and the lookout on your right overlooks the valley.

Coastal

  • Carlo Sandblow – the short easy walk to the Sandblow from the southern edge of town provides a wonderful moon like landscape of soft sand and wonderful views from Double Island point to K’gari Fraser Island and the Great Sandy Strait. A great spot for sunrise or sunset.
  • Double Island Point Lighthouse – 4WD access only. Drive along Rainbow Beach past the Coloured Sands. From the point it is a steep 15 min walk to the lighthouse. You will be rewarded with 360o views from Noosa to K’gari (formerly Fraser Island) and the coloured sands.

The West

  • Mudlo Gap Pearsons Lookout – Just 8km from Kilkivan on Mudlo Road. Pearsons Lookout is a 3km return walk from the car park, at times a steep walk requiring a moderate fitness level rewarding you with a great view.
  • Boat Mountain – 15km north of Goomeri, the car park for the walk to the lookout is on Daniels Road.  There are tracks ranging for 370 metres to 2.2kms. The walking trail leads you up many stairs, but once at the top, you enjoy a relatively easy walk to Daniel’s lookout, at the peak of Boat Mountain
