Rainbow Beach Family Fishing Classic and Expo

Rainbow Beach Family Fishing Classic is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2027.

Bringing community, business, and visitors together, the event encourages mate-ship, family participation, and positive mental health outcomes through the sport of fishing.

This is a 6 day event, with the Grand Finale following 5 nights encouraging participation & highlighting Seniors, Ladies, Youth, Juniors and Teams.

Fish categories for Beach are Whiting, Bream, Flathead, Dart and Tailor, and for Reef are Red Emperor, Snapper, Pearl Perch, Venus Tusk, Blue Parrot, and Sweetlip. Also, Mulloway & Big Fish categories

In 2026, the event sold out for the first time in its long history a month before gates opened, and the 2027 event sold out before that event even concluded.

The local Rainbow Beach community typically contributes more than 400 volunteered hours prepping, running and packing up the site

Prizes and giveaways during the 6 day event are expected to again exceed half a million dollars, with the ultimate drawdown prize being an incredible fishing boat on the final night of the event, as well as two smaller boats for Youth drawdown and Early Bird ticket purchases.

While the event is sold out, organizers encourage interested parties to place their names on the waitlist, as inevitably some people will have to back out as life interferes with the best laid plans
