Gympie Golf Club Historical Mining Signs

Naming the golf holes at Gympie was a project Gympie Golf Club member Greg Lewis had hoped to do for some time.

Many members & visitors might remember an original idea was to name the holes after their natural features—names like Lizard's Lair and The
Big Dipper.

However, that concept evolved when they discovered that two of the holes are located on the sites of old gold mines. The 7th par 4 and the 17th par 3 Holes.

With the Club's 100-year anniversary approaching, the idea gained new purpose, and Greg began researching online, speaking with members, and consulting local sources such as the Gold Mining Museum and the Gympie Library. After many hours—and indeed, several years—the project has finally come to fruition.

The signs are arranged in chronological order, beginning with James Nash and ending with Eldorado, the last operating gold mine in Gympie. Each sign also includes a "Did You Know?" section featuring interesting
historical facts and stories about the Club and the local gold mining era.
There are five signs with QR codes which can be downloaded and listened to whilst enjoying a game of golf.
